Overview
SkyBoard — Live Flight Panel ("SkyBoard") is a Chrome extension operated by WamvyTech. SkyBoard places a small flight board on ordinary webpages and can use a location selected by the user to display aircraft reported near that area.
This Privacy Policy explains what information SkyBoard handles, what leaves the browser, why that information is used, and the choices available to users.
Information SkyBoard Handles
- Location: SkyBoard can use latitude and longitude that you enter manually or obtain through Chrome's geolocation feature when you explicitly choose "Use my location." SkyBoard does not require a location to run in demo mode.
- OpenSky credentials: If you enable live traffic, you provide your own OpenSky API client ID and client secret. These credentials are used only to authenticate requests to OpenSky.
- Extension settings: SkyBoard stores preferences such as traffic filters, search radius, refresh interval, display behavior, panel position and size, and whether optional follow-across-tabs behavior is enabled.
- Temporary operational data: SkyBoard may keep temporary aircraft results, authentication state, and diagnostic information in extension memory or session storage so the extension can operate efficiently.
How Information Is Used
- To determine which area of sky to request from OpenSky when live traffic is enabled
- To authenticate your live-aircraft requests using the OpenSky credentials you provide
- To calculate distance, bearing, viewing direction, aircraft selection, and filtering locally in the browser
- To remember your SkyBoard display and traffic preferences between uses
- To place and maintain the floating SkyBoard panel on webpages where Chrome permits extensions to operate
SkyBoard does not use this information for advertising, behavioral profiling, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to displaying nearby aircraft.
Local Storage
SkyBoard uses Chrome extension storage to retain the settings necessary to provide the experience you configure.
- Your selected coordinates and SkyBoard preferences are stored locally by the extension.
- Your OpenSky client ID and client secret are stored in Chrome's local extension storage and are not intentionally synchronized to your other devices by SkyBoard.
- Temporary operational information may be stored in Chrome session storage or extension memory.
WamvyTech does not operate a SkyBoard backend that receives or stores this local extension data.
Data Sharing & No-Sell Policy
WamvyTech does not sell, rent, or trade SkyBoard user data.
When live traffic is enabled, SkyBoard transmits only the information needed to obtain nearby aircraft data from OpenSky:
- A geographic bounding box derived from your selected coordinates, so OpenSky knows which area of sky to return
- Your OpenSky authentication credentials, or authentication information derived from them, as required to authenticate the request
SkyBoard does not send webpage content to OpenSky and does not transmit your browsing history to WamvyTech.
Information may also be disclosed if required by applicable law or a valid legal process.
Third-Party Services
SkyBoard relies on OpenSky Network for live aircraft information. OpenSky operates independently from WamvyTech and its own terms and privacy practices govern information processed by OpenSky.
You can use SkyBoard in demo mode without providing OpenSky credentials or enabling live traffic.
Website Permissions
SkyBoard uses Chrome permissions to place its own interface on webpages. These permissions are used to display SkyBoard, not to analyze the content of the page underneath it.
- Active tab: When you invoke SkyBoard, temporary access to the active tab allows the extension to place the flight panel on that page.
- Scripting: SkyBoard uses Chrome's scripting capability to inject its packaged panel code into pages where you request it.
- Optional site access: If you explicitly enable the feature that makes SkyBoard follow you across tabs, Chrome may grant SkyBoard access to ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages for that purpose. SkyBoard does not use that access to read or transmit page content.
- Protected pages: Chrome prevents extensions from injecting into certain protected pages, including Chrome internal pages and the Chrome Web Store.
Data Retention & Your Control
SkyBoard does not maintain a remote account or cloud profile containing your extension settings.
- You can replace or remove your saved location in SkyBoard settings.
- You can replace or remove your OpenSky credentials in SkyBoard settings.
- You can disable optional follow-across-tabs access at any time.
- You can reset SkyBoard's local configuration or remove the extension to stop its operation.
Data transmitted to OpenSky is subject to OpenSky's own retention and privacy practices.
Data Security
SkyBoard is designed to minimize the amount of information that leaves the browser. OpenSky credentials are kept in Chrome's local extension storage and are sent only as needed to OpenSky's authentication service. Live aircraft requests are made over HTTPS.
SkyBoard does not include remotely hosted JavaScript or WebAssembly; executable extension code is packaged with the extension.
Children's Privacy
SkyBoard is a general-purpose aviation information tool and is not directed to children under 13. WamvyTech does not knowingly use SkyBoard to collect personal information from children.
Because SkyBoard does not operate a user account, analytics, or telemetry system, WamvyTech does not maintain age profiles or user profiles through the extension.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when SkyBoard's functionality, data practices, third-party services, or legal requirements change. When the policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
If a future version of SkyBoard materially changes the types of user data it handles or how that data is used, the Chrome Web Store disclosures and this policy will be updated accordingly.
